Our agency does business as Sojourner. The legal name to include in the estate plans is Sojourner Foundation, Inc. Sojourner’s tax ID number is 46-5489434.

Unrestricted Bequests

Bequests that are not designated to a specific purpose are vital to helping Sojourner accomplish it’s mission. Such gifts will always be used for the greatest needs of the organization. We suggest the following language for use in making an unrestricted bequest:

I give to Sojourner Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, (the sum of ___________dollars) or (a specific asset) or (____% of the remainder of my estate) to be used for the agency’s general purposes.

Restricted Bequests

We understand that donors may prefer to restrict their gift to a specific program under Sojourner’s mission, such as youth programming, Sojourner Truth House or our Life Skills Program. If you prefer to designate your gift to a specific purpose, we also recommend you include language in your estate plans to ensure your gift will always remain productive and will help Sojourner respond to changing needs and conditions.

We suggest the following language for use in making a restricted bequest:

I give to Sojourner Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, (the sum of ________dollars) or (a specific asset) or (________% of the remainder of my estate) to be used for ______________. If in the future Sojourner determines that all or a part of this gift cannot be usefully applied to such purpose, it may be used for any related purpose that, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, is most compatible with my wishes.
