peace empowers
hope heals

We recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month by lifting up the national theme of “heal, hold, center”.  This theme reminds us: to embrace and incorporate the many different ways to healing for survivors, to commit to holding space for survivors, to commit to providing unconditional support and to support marginalized survivors by supporting racial justice work in our community.

Women of color experience higher rates of violence because of the impact of racism and oppression on their daily lives. The National Domestic Violence Hotline reports, “45.1% of black women experienced physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking from their intimate partners and 40.1% of black men experienced those abuses.” These statistics bring even greater emphasis on the need to integrate racial justice principles into our work to end violence.

We have always believed that domestic violence is a human rights issue. Everyone has a right to safety and to be treated with dignity and respect. We are proud to carry this through our work serving people from all backgrounds and experiences.

We invite you to join us this month as we listen, learn, and love through the stories of hope being told at events all across town this month.  Stand with us and you can uphold survivors on their journey to healing.

There is always a spot for you.
