Relief and resolve
While we are relieved that a portion of justice was served, there is still much work to be done to address and end systematic and structural racism in America.
Sojourner continues to stand for love, dignity and respect. Our mission demands that we stand with communities of color at this historic time.
Let us continue to be advocates for justice and strive to be allies for equality in all we do.

Advocate Aurora Health donation serves our tiniest clients
Our friends at Advocate Aurora Health recently made a very special donation: seven cribs! The cribs are perfect for our needs – they’re compact, mobile and have plenty of storage for diapers, wipes and other supplies.
We will use the cribs for families staying in our emergency shelter and also for drop-in care in Children’s Program. (Interesting fact: We’ve had up to 5 infants staying in our emergency shelter at one time.)
We are so grateful for Advocate Aurora Health’s partnership, collaboration and support through the years. Having a Shelter Advocate and Aurora Community Healthcare Worker on-site is a tremendous benefit for clients and staff alike.

What you need to know about human trafficking and exploitation
Today, January 11, is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. It’s a time when we raise awareness for the issue of human trafficking and exploitation, publicly oppose this form of modern-day slavery and spread the message that help is available for exploited people everywhere.
Human trafficking and exploitation is a significant problem right here in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. It’s also largely misunderstood. Many people don’t understand how the crime impacts people of all ages and backgrounds, living in cities, suburbs and rural communities alike.
